Why should you take a Vacation?

Vacations are necessities, not luxuries. Many of us plan a vacation in advance and count down the days until we are on the road to freedom and relaxation! Others are so driven that they do not realize they need to take the time to rejuvenate. Giving yourself a vacation is one of the best possible things you can do for yourself. Many of us just do not know when to take a break and justify working hard, year round, because of the demands of life. All work and no play lead us to feel impatient, exhausted, ill, stressed, aggravated etc. We even have problems making decisions after so much time goes by without a break. Let us put it this way. Vacations equal better health of the body and mind and hey-sanity is a great thing.

According to a National Geographic article, it takes roughly two weeks of vacation per year to feel rejuvenated. For those of us that feel that we can’t get away from work, remember the following. Vacations keep employees productive and committed. There are also several studies that show a link between stress and health issues such as headaches, cardiovascular diseases and a weaker immune system. Vacations reduce the tendency of burnout as well. Once you do decide to take that vacation try not to look at your emails all day long. Take that break. A real break, mind and all. You deserve it. Our minds need that carefree time. Detach yourself from familiar, everyday surroundings and gain a new perspective and a better self knowledge.

The Smoky Mountain area, including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, are an ideal location to plan your vacation to. Nature is said to be healing and I personally strongly believe this. I am lucky enough to live in the heart of the Smoky Mountains and whenever I am feeling stressed or worried I simply get in my car and head to the mountains. There is that quote by John Muir that says “The mountains are calling and I must go.” It’s a true statement. I often find myself a large rock in the middle of the river, sit down and relax and just let everything go or I opt to take a short nature hike. Those little breaks do wonders. Not only do we have the Smoky Mountains in our backyard, but Pigeon Forge is full of activities and attractions. There is literally something for the entire family. Great opportunities to engage with your loved ones and make those lifelong memories that really are the most important in the end.

Planning a vacation can become chaotic and a big headache real quick. There are so many places to choose from when looking for a rental. You can save money by staying in a Pigeon Forge condominium, with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, private balcony and more. Having a full kitchen in your vacation rental can drastically save you money on meals. All you have to do is simply cook up a few meals and enjoy time with each other in the luxury living area. Or, sit outside on the private balcony if weather permits. When my family and I vacation, we usually have breakfast and lunch in the condo and then go out for dinner. This can absolutely save you quite a bit of money. Here at Whispering Pines, we realize that vacations can get pricey which is why we have our Free Entertainment Pass for our guests. Enjoy an adult free admission to many of the top shows and attractions in our area. Included as a free ticket are The Smoky Mountain Opry, Hatfield and McCoy, Comedy Barn and Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. You can read more about this complimentary Pass here. We also offer specials throughout the year that will help with the cost of a vacation to the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area.

If you just can’t possibly plan that getaway, take one whole day and turn your cell phone off, find a shade tree and read a book. Just let go of all the worries and stress that daily life can bring. For the rest of us, plan that trip to the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge or anywhere in the world! Relieve stress, improve your mental skills, your health, strengthen your family and friend ties and enjoy this wonderful life we’ve all been given! Take the opportunity to do the things you most enjoy.
