Spring in the Smokies

Another beautiful season is making its way into town, and I don’t know about you, but I am so excited for it! While I do love winter, I am ready for some sunshine and wildflowers. With every new season, comes a new reason to take a little getaway. Are you ready for your spring vacation? Are you still trying to think of where to go? How about you give Pigeon Forge a chance! Nestled between the Smoky Mountains, our little town is full of excitement and adventure at every corner. You can’t find a place that has as much family friendly activities as we do here. The best part of all is that most visitors can be here within one day of a drive, so not too bad at all. When you stay with us here at Whispering Pines, we offer beautiful one, two, three, and four bedroom affordable luxury condos featuring a city, nature, or mountain views from your private balcony! After a long day out and about in town, you will love coming home to these comfortable and spacious units. Everyone can have their own space which we all know we want when we’re on vacation. Another perk of vacationing better with us is that we offer a FREE TICKETS program for you to take advantage of. This gets you a free adult ticket each day to numerous shows and attractions in the area, saving you $275 a day! So it’s finally your vacation, where should you start? Let’s take a look at Spring in the Smokies!

One of my favorite things to do when it’s Spring again is to actually pack up a picnic and eat it over at Patriot Park! Not only is the weather usually amazing during this time, but the park itself is absolutely beautiful, I love being there. They have a big pavilion with tables that you can eat under as well as a gazebo, all complete with a view of the Little Pigeon River flowing by! Once you’re done eating, you can take a walk along their trail, a half mile loop, where you can see flags from all the 50 states as well as memorials for our Veterans of Pigeon Forge. Patriot Park also has many events that take place here like the Patriot Festival, 4th of July Fireworks, and Winterfest Lights and Displays. This makes it one beloved park and one you will definitely want to visit this Spring! Don’t forget to also do some browsing at some of the shops at Old Mill Square, we can guarantee you’ll leave with a little something after your window shopping is complete.

Another thing we always associate with Spring is the reopening of Dollywood! This year, the doors will be opening again on March 17th, and we need to prepare ourselves now for one incredible year here. Dolly Parton herself has called this the “Season of Showstoppers” because we’re going to be getting world class entertainment when we visit this beloved park. First thing we’re going to get to enjoy is the brand new Festival of Nations where different cultures from all over the world will be singing, dancing, and entertaining us during this special event. Complete with kiddie, water, and thrill rides, this park will truly have it all and then some. Did we mention the roller coasters?! There are some of the best here like the Lightning Rod and Wild Eagle! There’s tons of shopping and other shows to watch, you will love this park from beginning to end.

Next on our handy dandy Spring to do list is hitting the trails of course! Hiking is a favorite among visitors and locals alike and it’s for good reason. This is the best time of the year to go hiking because you get to see our beautiful wildflowers beginning to bloom! The scenery on these hikes will honestly take your breath away. Not only do you get to see picturesque views of the mountains, but when you add such a wide variety of wildflowers to it, the sights just can’t be beat. Add in some waterfalls and you’ll feel like you’re seeing magic right before your eyes. Are you traveling with some younger kids? No problem at all, there are plenty of kid-friendly hikes as well! While there are so many different trails to choose from, I decided to narrow it down to a few of my favorites for you all to check out while you’re here!

  • Rainbow Falls
  • Grotto Falls
  • Porters Creek Trail
  • Little River Trail
  • Chestnut Top
  • Rich Mountain Loop
  • Andrews Bald
  • Gregory Bald

Now that the weather will finally be absolutely lovely, you’ll definitely want to spend as much time outside as you possibly can. Lucky for us, we have two amazing shopping centers that are sure to become your new oasis. The first one is Tanger Outlets where you will truly be able to find a little bit of everything that you maybe looking for. From designer purses and clothes to kitchenware and homegoods, they really do have it all. With dining restaurants and a Starbucks to keep our shopping energy going, you will fall in love this new destination. Next up is your one stop shop for attractions, shopping, dining, and entertainment. That’s right, we’re talking about The Island! Here you can find unique shops like a puzzle store, a 5 & 10, and even comic book collectibles. Once you’re done shopping til you drop, there’s attractions all throughout the area for everyone to enjoy. They have a ropes course, bumper cars, the escape game, mirror maze, and so much more. Most importantly, they have The Wheel! Climb aboard your enclosed gondola and prepare for a ride on the ferris wheel that you’ve never experienced before. See our Smokies in all their glory from way up above, you will fall in love with the scenery. This spot is sure to become your new family favorite outdoor adventure!
